How We Pack & Ship

Packing

Every tree we sell will packed and shipped inside of the Root Pouch it has been growing in during the season. To cut costs, often online nurseries will remove the tree and wrapped the roots in moist paper for shipping. While the tree is dormant this is acceptable and common method of shipping. But during the growing season this may add additional unneccessary stress to the tree. We prefer to leave our tree in their Root Pouch for a couple key reasons.

When we ship our trees the potting soil mixture in the Root Pouch will retain moisture after being prepared and packaged for shipping. This helps ensure the roots have access to moisture while it is in transit. This reduces the stress on the tree and when it arrives at its final destination it will be less likely to be showing signs of stress (dry and wilted leaves).

During the dormant season, late fall through winter, we continue to ship our trees in their Root Pouch. This gives our customers flexibility when the tree arrives. They can decide to plant the tree immediatley if the weather conditions permit or they can leave the tree in the root pouch through the remainder of the winter.

Processing Before Shipping

All orders generally can be selected, packed, and made available to ship within one business. During the growing season we prefer to ship Mon-Wed in order to prevent our trees from being held up over the weekend on shipping carrier facilities. If the destination zip code is within 1-2 shipping days from our address we may choose to ship on Thursday to get your order to you as soon as possible. Orders placed Friday, Saturday, or Sunday will generally ship either Monday or Tuesday at the latest.

We happy to hold orders for any reasons if needed. If needed please leave us a note with your request at Checkout.

Carriers & Ship Times

We offer three main options at checkout for our customers in order to provide the cheapest shipping options; UPS, USPS, and Flat Rate. If during check out you find that the Flat Rate options is the cheapest for your destination and products selected you can use this option to save additional shipping costs. We will still select from either UPS or USPS to get your order to you.

As a general rule, UPS will be the fastest devliery option and our preference for shipping live trees. From our location, we can get UPS orders to most of the US in 1-3 days, with 4-5 days being the exception for remote areas. For USPS, most of our orders will arrive in 2-5 days, with 6-7 days being the exception but possible.
